CALABARZON Has Most Number of OFWs
Region IV-A or what is known as the CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon) accounted for the most number of OFWs with 327,000, followed by Central Luzon and the National Capital Region or NCR with 327,000 and 294,000, respectively.
Caraga, MIMAROPA (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan) and the Cordillera Administrative Region have the least number of OFWs with 29,000, 35,000 and 37,000, respectively. Below is the complete table of OFWs by region. The data is presented in descending order from most to least number of OFWs.

There are slightly more male OFWs as a national average for 2010; or 11 males for every 10 females. The gender ratio is computed as males over females so that a higher than 1 ratio means that there are more males from a particular region who are working abroad as OFWs.
From Luzon, there are more male OFWs from the CALABARZON, the NCR, Central Luzon, MIMAROPA and the Bicol Region. More females, however, come from the CAR, Ilocos Region and Cagayan Valley.
From the Visayas, there are more male OFWs except from Western Visayas where female OFWs outnumber their male counterparts. Finally, from Mindanao there are predominantly more female OFWs except from Northern Mindanao which has a 1.24 ratio.

The average age of OFWs is 34.4 years but as can be seen from the table below, the biggest group in terms of age distribution is from 25-29 years old. Whatever their reasons for leaving, this young group – it is presumed – of OFWs will be spending their most productive economic years abroad.

A great percentage of the total number of OFWs – roughly 76% – are engaged in trade and related works; plant and machine operations and assembly; service worker and shop and market sales work; or as labourers and unskilled workers. Those who are in the professional, technician and associate professional group constitute only roughly 10% of all OFWs.

Finally, Asia is still where the most number of OFWs have relocated with more than 80% dispersed around the continent. About 52.7% are in Western Asia which includes Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.
